Bucs battle Falcons this weekend

Buccaneers looking to erase last weeks loss from mind

The secondary was torched by the Raiders last weekend to the tune of 513 yards and four touchdowns by Derek Carr and still the Bucs had opportunities to win.

“They tried to give us the game — two missed field goals and all those penalties,” Tampa Bay tackle Demar Dotson said. “We didn’t take it.”

“Totally unacceptable, no doubt about it,” said Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith. “Some of them are missed leverage and missed tackles, there were some that were short throws that we bucs-3did not tackle well, there were some that we had miscommunication where we had the wrong guy hung on the receiver when he shouldn’t have been there. So, there’s a myriad of things that we have got to get better at. And I don’t think we should try to blame it on one player, one group. We work in tandem.

Now comes another top performing quarterback in Matt Ryan, who is having the best year of his career.  With a QB rating of 115.8, Ryan has passed for 2636 yards and 19 touchdowns to only four interceptions.

Even though the Buccaneers have won three straight against the Falcons to include this year’s season opener, Ryan has his team humming at a high rate right now.

“Their offense has always been good. It looks like they’ve finally settled on who their second and third receivers are, they’ve kind of found their role. They’ve really developed the two running back system. The one second guy (Tevin Coleman) might be out — he was out last week — but what an explosive player that he’s turned into, much more so than last year, and (Devonta) Freeman’s been good the whole time.”

Buccaneers visit Texans, hope to keep them winless

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping to even up the series match up against the Houston Texans to two wins each.  The two teams have met three times with the Texans holding a 2-1 edge.

After keeping the New Orleans out of the win column last week, the Bucs still have a lot of work to do with Jameis Winston who recovered from a terrible week 1 (16-33 for 210 yards, 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s 2 sacks) to stun the Saints 26-19 by going 14-21 for 207 yards and a touchdown, as well as a touchdown on the ground…good for a 114 QB rating.

The Bucs will be facing a Texans team without the services of RB Arian Foster who is recovering from an groin injury that kept him out of the loss to the Panthers.

Bucs lose sixth game in a row

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers season continues its downward spiral as they lost their sixth game in a row and eight out of their last nine games.  The Atlanta Falcons used the Bucs to stop their own losing skid.

“It’s been too long since we won a game. It’s always better when you come out on the right end, so we’ll enjoy it,” Quarterback Matt Ryan said after throwing for 219 yards and one touchdown without an interception. “But we also know with the way the division is shaking out, we’re right in the mix.”

The Buccaneers will have a slightly easier time against the 3-6 Washington Redskins who are coming off a 3-point loss to the Minnesota Vikings.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so get yours now!

Bucs looking to rebound against Rams

Tampa Bay is looking to rebound from it’s embarrassing 41-0 loss last weekend and hope to get back on the winning track against the visiting St. Louis Rams.  LB Adam Hayward put it best.

“We’ve got something to prove. When you get a butt-whipping like that, you don’t want to end on a note like that, you want to go out there and fight and kind of be like, ‘This is how I want to be remembered,’ not being blown out 41-0. I know these guys and I see it in their eyes and they want to play football.”

The Rams are also looking to rebound from a 36-22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. First year coach Jeff Fisher has been a little disappointed on how the season has unfolded but knows that in the NFL there are not many opportunities to win and a ton of opportunities to lose.

“We have a chance, with success this week, if that happens, we have chance to finish with a winning record. We have a chance to, if we’re successful this week, we have a chance to be undefeated in the division, which is going to be a very, very difficult task, especially up there, so there’s challenges, Fisher said.  “We talk improving. From day one we’ve talked about improving and you just don’t stop improving in Week 17 when the game’s over. You push right through the season, then you push in the offseason and then you move forward improving the big picture with this football team.”

The Buccaneers finish the season on the road against the surging Atlanta Falcons.
