So much has changed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise over the course of the last year. Long time team owner Marc Glazer passed away on May 18 of this year just as the team put in place a new General Manager, Jason Licht and a new Head Coach, Lovie Smith. Add in a new starting quarterback in Josh McGowen and this could prove to be an interesting year for the Bucs.

Prepare for the New Buccaneers
Good or bad, massive change has taken place during the off season for the Tampa Bay Bucs. New General Manager (Jason Licht) new Head Coach(Lovie Smith), new Quarterback (Josh McCowen), new uniforms, and a roster that has little resemblance to last season’s.
With so many questions about what the team will actually be able to do, one has been quietly answered in the off season. That is, the quarterback position.
“McCown looks like he’s played a couple of years in this game,” Anthony Casillas said . “It’s a strong comparison, but he reminds me of Drew (Brees), not just the way he throws the ball, but his approach to the game. The first one in, the last one out, he’s always around. He’s very communicable, very personable. And you can tell he’s a born leader.
Another notable change for the offense will be the running game, which ranked last in total offense in the league last season. The team is currently carrying six running backs including two rookies including Brenden Bigelow and Charles Sims.
Patriot rookies help to fall Buccanneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers shot themselves in the foot this weekend with two turnovers on downs, a missed 38-yard FG and a Josh Freeman interception which doomed the Bucs. Even with all the adversity Freeman is enduring, his head coach Greg Schiano remains confident in him and will stick with Freeman for the foreseeable future.
“Josh is our starter. That’s where we are,” Schiano said. “He’s done some good things and he’s done some things that he’d like to change and we’d like to. But it’s the whole offensive unit. We need to be more precise and we need to coach more precisely, it’s everybody involved.”
The Bucs will get another opportunity to right the ship as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles after this weeks bye week. The game will take place October 13th. Great seats are still available!
Buccaneers face Peyton Manning/Denver Broncos
Broncos looking to clinch AFC West
The Denver Broncos will be hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday and Peyton Manning is looking to do for Denver what has not been done since 2005; clinch back to back AFC West Division Titles.
For the Buccaneers, it will be business as usual.
“At this point, we’re looking strictly at the next game,” said quarterback Josh Freeman. “It’s a one-game season. We’re not looking at divisional opponents. That’s stuff that will take care of its self down the road. All we’re focusing on is putting together the best performance we can against the team we have out there against us.”
Denver owns the record between the two teams at 5-2 with the last victory coming in 2008 and Manning is looking much like he did in his prime with Indy.
“He is the epitome of a pro quarterback,” safety Ronde Barber said. “He always has been and nothing has changed. A different team, the system seems similar to what he was doing in Indy. But he’s still very smart with the ball. You don’t see any drop off. I know he had the issue with the neck, but it’s a non-factor on film. He’s still putting it where it’s supposed to be.”
The Buccaneers are looking get back in the winning column after losing a close game to the Atlanta Falcons last weekend and pressuring the quarterback will be of point of emphasis. The Falcons are ranked 28th in the NFL in sacks.
“It certainly could be better,” head Coach Greg Schiano said of his teams pass rushing. “We’re doing a good job at times and there’s great teaching opportunities to show them this is really good. It’s consistency, like so much of what our whole football team is striving for, consistency to do it down in and down out.
